The Hobonichi Techo A6 Yuichi Inoue “Hana (Flower)” pays tribute to the renowned calligrapher Yuichi Inoue, celebrated for breaking away from tradition to create bold, dynamic works filled with life. This cover highlights his signature ichijisho style (“single-character works”), where each brushstroke conveys both power and delicacy.

From among the more than 400 pieces he created using the character “flower” (hana), two were selected for this design: on the right side, a large, explosive character that seems to leap off the page, and on the left, a lighter, more graceful form reminiscent of wildflowers.

To let the calligraphy shine, the base is made of natural cotton, and the characters are silk-screen printed, faithfully reproducing the dynamic brushstrokes and even the ink splatters.

The outer pocket features an artist credit, showing the meaning of the character “hana” (flower) along with Inoue’s name, presented in a clean, modern typeface. Inside, a two-tone palette of natural beige and vibrant yellow sets a bright atmosphere, while the bookmarks in soft purple ribbon add a gentle accent.

One of the two pen holders that, when a pen is inserted, allow the cover to stay closed is colored in cheerful yellow, bringing brightness even when the cover is shut.
