The Sailor 1911 Special Nib Naginata Togi is a Japanese fountain pen that combines the iconic design of the 1911 with the mastery of Sailor’s specialty nibs, embodying the finest level of Japanese craftsmanship.
The Naginata Togi nib, made of 21-carat gold, was originally created for writing kanji: when the pen is held upright it produces a thin line, while tilting it creates a broader, softer stroke. This unique grind, developed by master craftsman Nobuyoshi Nagahara, recreates the flexibility and movement of a traditional brush.
In Western writing, the Naginata Togi proves remarkably versatile. It varies the line width according to the writing angle, allowing each stroke to flow naturally and expressively. The result is a smooth writing experience, with lines that subtly change character with every movement of the hand.
The nib is available in four sizes — Fine (new), Medium-Fine, Medium, and Broad — to suit different writing styles and preferences. The cartridge/converter filling system and the balanced proportions of the 1911 series complete an elegant, refined, and highly precise instrument.
The Sailor 1911 Naginata Togi is a tribute to Japanese craftsmanship and to the pleasure of mindful writing, where every stroke reveals a different shade of expression.
