The Sailor King of Pen Color Urushi Kaga Amber is a fountain pen that celebrates Japanese craftsmanship and the warm radiance of urushi lacquer. Made from ebonite coated with natural urushi lacquer, it features a refined amber finish, rich in golden reflections and warm depth, applied by hand through a meticulous process that can take up to two months to complete.
Urushi is a natural lacquer obtained from the sap of trees grown exclusively in East Asia, which reach maturity after around fifteen years. Its application requires several successive steps, up to twelve layers of coating and drying in humidity-controlled environments, to achieve a glossy, deep and remarkably durable surface that will develop new nuances over time.
The generous body of the King of Pen enhances the brightness of the amber urushi finish and houses the prestigious two-tone 21k gold nib, in the King of Pen size, a symbol of Sailor’s writing excellence. Every stroke feels smooth, balanced and full of character, conveying the authenticity of Japanese calligraphic tradition.
The fountain pen uses a Sailor cartridge or converter filling system and is presented in an elegant gift box, complete with a bottle of Sailor ink and a cleaning cloth.
