Nestled in the highlands of Papua New Guinea, the Simbu tribe is renowned for the captivating ritual of the Dancing Skeletons. In this powerful ceremony, warriors paint their bodies to resemble skeletons, both to intimidate foes and to honor a deep bond with the spirit world.
Interestingly, the very name Simbu originated from an exclamation of awe – "Simbu!" – uttered by the first Australian explorers upon witnessing this proud tribe for the first time.
The Delta Indigenous People 2025 Simbu Vermeil fountain pen distills this rich cultural legacy into a singularly elegant writing instrument. Handcrafted in Italy, it features a black resin body enveloped by a skeletal armor cast in solid sterling silver and then layered in gold (vermeil) using the lost-wax technique, all hand-finished to perfection.
The result is a delicate lattice of golden "bones" against the dark barrel, evoking the iconic body paint of the Simbu warriors. The clip, also fashioned from gold-plated sterling silver, takes inspiration from a traditional tribal drum, adding an extra layer of symbolism tied to Simbu ceremonial dances.
In terms of engineering, this masterpiece is equipped with a piston filling system, a generous 14k gold #8 nib, and a red ebonite feed, ensuring a smooth, consistent ink flow and a superb writing experience.
The Simbu Vermeil pen is a strictly limited edition of only 88 pieces, making it extremely exclusive and highly sought-after by collectors. Each pen stands as a heartfelt tribute to indigenous peoples and their spiritual heritage, merging the allure of an ancient tradition with the technical and artistic mastery of Italian penmaking.
