JOSE MUNUERA (NIB LAB) X STILO&STILE
Jose Munuera (Nib Lab) labels himself as a nib scientist, combining his background in materials science with his hobby as a nib worker. He discovered the joys of tinkering with pens and nibs in 2020, and quickly found himself making all sorts of nibs, grinding, polishing and welding.
REVERSE COBRA
The Reverse Cobra nib stands out for its unique construction: two plates soldered on top of the tip create a large writing sphere, the result of an intricate and highly refined technique. This distinctive feature makes the nib extremely versatile and unlike any other. In the regular position it produces a thin, precise line suitable for everyday writing, while in reverse it delivers a very broad stroke, perfect for titles, underlining, and exploring the depth and shading of inks. In concept it recalls the famous Graph Stacked, but with an even broader reverse line, making it a true creative evolution.
ZOOM
The Zoom nib is a stacked nib that stands out for an unusual feature: the welded layer is placed underneath the nib, rather than on top as in the Chem and Graph Stacked. This particular construction, which José Munuera calls a “sneaky stack”, gives the nib a discreet appearance while delivering an impressive performance.
The line it produces is very broad—hence the name “Zoom”—and changes depending on the writing angle. Similar to the Chem Stacked but with a wider downstroke, it allows for generous lines and lets you modulate the intensity with a simple shift in inclination. It is perfect not only for large writing and titles, but also for highlighting text and discovering new ink nuances thanks to a rich and abundant flow. A nib that amplifies creativity, turning every stroke into an extraordinary expression.
REVERSIBLE
The Reversible nib was born from a conversation between Stilo&Stile and José Munuera, starting with a simple yet ambitious request: could we create a nib that writes in two different ways? Fine on one side and broad on the other.
The result is a truly unique nib that combines the practicality of a thin, precise line for everyday writing with the ability to transform, with a simple flip, into a broad, rich, and expressive stroke. A double soul contained in a single nib, designed for those who seek versatility and freedom of expression in their writing.
MEDIUM STUB
Ground from a medium point, this stub nib will add a bit of stubby flare to your writing without the large strokes of a common 1.1 mm stub. Thanks to its special writing size, Medium Stub grind can be used for your daily writing on a planner or a letter. It makes more beautiful your calligraphy.
NAGINATA
Originally intended for Japanese calligraphy, the iconic Naginata made by Jose Munuera produces finer strokes when held at high angles and broader when held at low angles, with a slight architect feel to them.
CHEM STACKED
With the welded pieces on top, Chem Stacked nib allows for larger larger strokes. This nib has been ground to a large curved architect, and it will change the horizontal strokes depending on the angle with the maximum width below 45 degrees.
GRAPH STACKED
With the welded pieces on top, Graph Stacked nib has been designed for your everyday writing. The regular side has been ground to a regular Fine point, but the reverse offers very broad strokes, intended for highlighting, titles, etc.
