The Sailor 115th Anniversary Commemorative Fountain Pen Hiroshima Momiji is a refined commemorative fountain pen created to celebrate Sailor Pen’s 115th anniversary through a project deeply connected to the nature, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage of Hiroshima Prefecture.

For more than a century Sailor has produced fountain pens in Hiroshima, and this special edition was developed together with local artisans, traditional manufacturers, and historical partners from the region to honor that long-standing connection.

The pen is crafted from Japanese Momiji maple wood, one of Hiroshima’s most iconic natural symbols. Famous throughout Japan for its beautiful autumn foliage, the Momiji maple was officially designated as Hiroshima Prefecture’s symbolic tree in 1966. Its leaves are deeply rooted in local culture and even inspired the traditional Momiji Manju sweets of Miyajima.

The maple wood used for this fountain pen comes from Hiroshima’s mountains and is carefully processed to achieve a smooth, luminous surface with a wonderfully natural tactile sensation. The oil finish enhances the elegant grain of the wood while preserving its authentic character and warmth.

The Sailor 21K gold nib is engraved with the special 115th Anniversary marking. Thanks to the unique flexibility of 21K gold, the nib delivers exceptionally smooth and stable writing performance, maintaining consistent ink flow even under stronger writing pressure. The result is the refined sensation Sailor describes as a “feather’s touch.”

The cap ring features the exclusive engraving “SAILOR 115th ANNIVERSARY HIROSHIMA Est.”, while the individual serial number is laser engraved on the barrel end.

The outer sleeve is crafted from recycled Orizuru paper, created using origami cranes donated to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park as symbols of peace and hope. Each crane is carefully unfolded by hand, sorted by color, and transformed into handmade recycled paper.

Inside the box is an elegant Bingo-gasuri fabric pen pouch, a historic Hiroshima textile tradition renowned for its indigo dyeing techniques, durability, and soft texture.

The exclusive leaflet for the Momiji edition is produced using Orizuru Tesuki Washi, a handmade traditional Japanese paper enriched with recycled paper from Hiroshima’s peace cranes.
