The Sailor King of Pen Naginata Togi Umesaki is the seventh edition in the prestigious collection of colored ebonite pens crafted with the Chirashi (scattering) technique. This exclusive fountain pen combines the artistry of Japanese craftsmanship with Sailor’s renowned 21k Naginata Togi nib.
Umesaki is inspired by Hiroshige Utagawa’s masterpiece Plum Estate in Kameido, part of the famous series “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.” This iconic print, celebrated for its ingenious use of perspective, captivated audiences in Japan and abroad; in 1887, Vincent van Gogh created his own version titled “Flowering Plum Tree.”
The pen reflects the artwork’s colors: a pink base with white accents representing plum blossoms, complemented by gray and black details to evoke tree trunks and branches. The result is a refined and poetic design that pays tribute to the beauty of Ukiyo-e art.
Crafted from ebonite and released as a limited and numbered edition, the Sailor King of Pen Umesaki is equipped with the Naginata Togi nib, available in MF, M, or B grades. The bicolor finish of the nib adds further elegance to this remarkable writing instrument, designed for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
